"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world’s central banks which were themselves private corporations.
Each central bank… sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

Carroll Quigley (Bill Clinton’s mentor at Georgetown) from his 1964 book Tragedy and Hope
Remember that “financial capitalism” isn’t really capitalism at all. It is financial fraud and economic oppression of the average Joe, to benefit the politically connected.
The system will crash and burn. It will take a long time. But when gold re-appears as the final extinguisher of debts, the pillars of the financial empire will crumble and fall. The power of politicians, after rising for 150+ years, will start declining. No one will be interested. Welfare state democracy will slowly decay from within. It never was the “end of history”, rather a path to the end of civilization. Those living during the many hundreds of years during which Rome declined probably didn’t see what was happening slowly but surely. It will be faster this time, but it is impossible to say how fast. What we have to learn is to live, and thrive, during the collapse of a system that we inherited.

The good part is that there are many
worse times to have been alive from a material point of view. The bad thing is
that the intellectual climate is so hopeless that we must find ways to keep our
brains from rotting completely. Do yourself a favour – read the classics, learn
how things really work, challenge yourself and TUNE OUT THE STATIST NOISE.
Try to see politicians and the “leaders”
of today for what they are – incompetent imbeciles who can do nothing except
regurgitate the tired old slogans and talking points. They have done no work,
will never do any, and know absolutely NOTHING about the aspects of being
alive. Ignore them. Find your own friends, ideals and heroes. Don’t waste your
mind on the postmodern garbage. Let it go. Find your own place, and spend some
time with your family, friends and the giants of the past. Those who knew, created, wrote and left us
with a treasure of knowledge that no one knows to appreciate anymore.
